Elizabeth Lindsey is the Executive Director of Byte Back, a Washington, DC based nonprofit offering a free technology training pathway for unemployed adults. Byte Back is one of the only organizations in the country that helps adults with no or low tech skills move from beginner to intermediate skill levels and into certification courses and living wage careers that use technology. Byte Back trains over 700 adults from diverse communities every year. Under Elizabeth’s leadership, Byte Back has won pitches, diversified its revenue, and become nationally known for innovative and inclusive technology training.



Prior to joining Byte Back in 2015, Elizabeth served as the Chief Operating Officer of Groundswell. She oversaw its evolution from a start-up, community-based organization into a nationally-recognized social enterprise. After earning her master’s in public affairs and urban and regional planning from Princeton University, she led workforce development efforts for minorities and small women-owned businesses in New Jersey and Washington, DC.



Elizabeth recently competed in two WeWork Creator Awards pitch competitions, winning a total of $720,000 for Byte Back in less than a year. She has successfully led the organization’s fund development and diversified its revenue by forming corporation, local government, and foundation partnerships.



Elizabeth was named a Tech Titan by the Washingtonian and one of DC Inno’s 50 on Fire. She is also an Organizer for DC Tech Meetup, with 22,000 members. She serves on the Board of Directors of the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, The Work Place DC, the Goodwill Excel Center, and The Engine Room.
