As Manager of Partnerships and Interagency Affairs, Karen Hanson promotes the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) BroadbandUSA program among government stakeholders and the philanthropic community, and coordinates interagency efforts to encourage broadband adoption and investments in broadband. Ms. Hanson currently leads BroadbandUSA’s efforts on the Broadband Interagency Working Group (BIWG), and led NTIA’s staff work on the Broadband Opportunity Council (BOC). Previously, she served as a Federal Program Officer for the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP), overseeing a portfolio of Public Computer Center (PCC) and Sustainable Broadband Adoption (SBA) grants. Ms. Hanson’s background includes work in the non-profit, philanthropic and private sectors promoting broadband deployment and digital access. Prior to joining NTIA, Ms. Hanson was a consultant in the software industry and an analyst for organizations addressing digital equity issues. Ms. Hanson received a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in Public Policy Studies and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
