Katy Locker joined Knight Foundation in September 2013. In her role as Detroit program director, Locker focuses on Detroit’s unique opportunity to help the people of Detroit become more informed about the changes the city is undergoing and more engaged in being a part of the change, so that the city may be smarter and more responsive during a period of dramatic transformation.
Locker holds degrees from Cornell University and the University of Michigan Law School. She previously practiced redevelopment and public law in California, served as a policy analyst with the Judicial Council of California, and served community development nonprofits and the public sector in Detroit. In 2016, Crain’s Detroit Business named Locker one of the state’s 100 most influential women.
